Corey John O’CONNELL

UPDATE

2023/06/01

After four searches that the O’Connell family orgasined and two the W.A. Police conducted the remains of Corey were located largely thanks to Daniel from Working Drones Australia, he volunteered his time and sent up a drone and took 41’000 images back in March of 2023. He later set up a website where the public could look through the images and only a few days later after doing this there was an image of concern that was located by a member of the public. A few days later people on foot were able to find the remains and some time later on the W.A. Police confirmed by DNA the remains did in fact belong to Corey.

A fresh search has been launched for Corey O’Connell, a 24-year-old man who went missing in Western Australia’s south-west in June 2021. He was last seen in the morning on the 24th of June 2021 near the Brockman Highway near Jalbargup.

The search, which began on March 15, involves SES volunteers, local police, and a specialist police unit that uses cadaver dogs to search for human remains. The search area covers a 10km stretch of the highway.

Corey’s family and friends have been actively searching for him since his disappearance, and have set up a Facebook page to share information and coordinate search efforts. The family is grateful for the continued support from the community and hopes the fresh search will provide some answers.

Detective Senior Sergeant Justin Benson said the search was a continuation of previous efforts, and they were determined to find answers for Corey’s family. He urged anyone with information about Corey’s disappearance to come forward.

The search for Corey O’Connell is ongoing, and anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
